Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know — for families looking for care and providers looking to grow.

For Clients & Families

Is FindCarers free to use for families?
Yes — it is completely free to create an account and search for carers near you. There are no subscription fees for families. You only ever pay the carer directly for their services.
How do I find a carer in my area?
Enter your postcode, select the type of care you need, and browse through verified carers available in your location. You can filter by care type, rating, availability, and more. Results are ordered by distance from your postcode.
What types of carers can I find on the platform?
You'll find a wide range of care professionals including childminders, nannies, elderly support workers, live-in carers, special needs carers, dementia specialists, palliative care workers, and part-time care helpers. We also list registered agencies and care homes.
Are all carers on the platform verified?
Carers who display the green "Verified" badge have had their identity, DBS check, and key qualifications confirmed by our team in partnership with PolicyBase. You can filter search results to show verified carers only. Unverified profiles are providers who have registered but not yet completed the verification process.
How do payments work?
Currently, you agree payment directly with your chosen carer. FindCarers does not process payments between families and carers — we simply facilitate the connection. We recommend agreeing clear terms before care begins. A Book & Pay feature is coming soon for in-platform payment processing.
What is a Handpicked Match?
Handpicked Match is our premium concierge service where our expert team personally selects the best-matched carer for your specific needs. You submit a detailed care request, and our team does the searching, vetting, and shortlisting for you — presenting you with 2–3 ideal matches within 48 hours.
What do I do if I have a problem with a carer?
Please first try to resolve the issue directly with the carer. If this is not possible, you can submit a complaint through our platform. All complaints are handled according to our Complaints Policy — we aim to respond within 5 working days. In urgent safeguarding situations, please contact the relevant authorities immediately.
Can I leave a review for a carer?
Yes. After using a carer's services, you can log in to your account and leave a star rating and written review on their profile. Reviews help other families make informed decisions and help great carers stand out.

For Providers & Carers

How do I register as a carer or agency?
Click "Get Started" in the top navigation, complete your profile, add your qualifications and availability, and choose your listing type (Solo Carer, Agency, Childminder, etc). The process takes around 5–10 minutes. Your listing will be reviewed by our team and published within 24 hours of approval.
Is it free to join as a carer?
Yes — it is completely free to sign up, create a profile, and appear in search results. Free accounts include 1 photo and basic listing visibility. Paid plans (starting at £9/month) unlock additional features like messaging, the Verified badge, more photos, analytics, and priority placement.
What is the Verified badge and how do I get it?
The Verified badge (available on Basic plan and above) signals to families that your identity, DBS check, and key credentials have been reviewed and confirmed by our team. To get verified, upgrade to at least the Basic plan and submit your documents through your dashboard. Verification typically takes 1–2 working days.
How does the photo limit work?
Photo limits are based on your plan — Free (1 photo), Basic (3 photos), Professional (6 photos), Premium (8 photos). This is the number of photos active on your listing at any one time. If you delete a photo, you can upload a new one within your limit.
What does the Professional plan include?
The Professional plan (£19/month) includes everything in Basic plus: up to 6 photos, full analytics dashboard (profile views, clicks, keyword data), conversion funnel insights, priority search placement, and access to Training & CPD courses. It's our most popular plan for growing care businesses.
How do I receive and respond to enquiries?
Enquiries from families are sent to your FindCarers inbox and to your registered email address simultaneously. You need to be on at least the Basic plan to receive messages. You can reply directly from your dashboard or by clicking the link in the email notification.
Can I cancel or change my plan at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans — no questions asked.
